The exhibitions are designed atypically and are based on the curatorial assignment and the given space. ‘Montanistika’ (mining tools) is conceived as a dark room with steel showcases, ‘ethnography’ as a room with tables that depict the customs related to the seasons. ‘Botany’ and ‘zoology’ are in principle a discovery of nature according to individual species. The oldest prints shine like fireflies in a dark vaulted room and follow the historical collections located in a red-coloured space. There are accumulated ones here, systematically rare pieces with special emphasis on the clock. The weapons are placed in double-sided all-glass showcases. ‘Archaeology’ follows the principle of storing excavations (plywood boxes), ‘mineralogy’ is displayed in showcases referring to the shapes of minerals and the ‘geology’ exposition is placed in strictly arranged modules with tilted showcases. The history of Ostrava is located in blue toned spaces. Its walls are lined with glass panels and the exhibits are displayed on plinths. The installation piece is composed of steel and wooden showcases, sometimes placed on oak blocks. The majority of the display offers opening parts for tactile sensations and the discovery of additional information.
