The preparation of a new exposition of the history of transport in the National Technical Museum in Prague was created in 2006, when we won the invited competition. Further cooperation with the curators led to the gradual abandonment of the original concept of the exhibition with interactive elements. Instead, we designed a simple universal galvanized steel exhibition fund system. The functionalist space of the Transport Hall was cleaned and unified in colour to create a suitable background for the beautiful technical exhibits. All elements of the fund are demountable, a large extent steel grate parts are used, to which are attached exhibits, showcases, labels, graphics carriers, etc. The industrial character of the space corresponds to the use of technical materials (galvanized steel, natural aluminium, glass), as well as graphic solution, using simple colours and fonts.
On the ground floor of the hall there is an exposition of cars, railways and firefighting equipment. At the request of the curators, there is also a self-supporting steel platform for exhibiting racing cars and installing short-term exhibitions. The space of the first gallery is used for the exhibition of motorcycles standing on a platform made of gratings along the walls. On the second gallery there are continuous metal showcases for the exchangeable part of the aviation exposition (the planes are hung freely in the hall area). The exposition of cycling and boat transport to the last gallery again uses a platform made of steel gratings. The exhibition is complemented by several resting places.
